About the Leadership Impact Institute
LII recognises leadership on evidence of what has actually changed. That covers individual leaders, leadership programmes and organisations.
What LII does
LII is an independent professional standards organisation. It recognises leadership in three ways:
- Individual Certification assesses the leadership an individual has actually exercised, at one of five levels from CEL to CXL.
- Programme Recognition recognises leadership development programmes that show participants lead differently as a result.
- LEM, the Leadership Excellence Model, is LII's organisational accreditation of leadership capability across an organisation.
Why LII exists
Most leadership credentials record attendance or course completion. They say what someone studied, not how they lead or what changed because of them.
Leaders, employers and the organisations that buy leadership development need something different: an independent, evidence-based view of capability. LII exists to provide it.
Independence
LII does not deliver training, coaching or development programmes. Assessment is kept separate from development and from LII's commercial activity.
Levels are set by the evidence, never by the fee. People and organisations can prepare however they choose; that choice has no bearing on the decision.
Evidence-based recognition
Every decision rests on demonstrated workplace evidence, judged against defined standards by independent assessors. Decisions are reviewed before they are confirmed, and every decision has a route to appeal.
What LII is not
- Not a university or higher education institution. LII does not award academic qualifications.
- Not a training provider or awarding body. LII does not deliver training or award qualifications within national qualification frameworks.
- Not a statutory regulator. LII does not regulate any profession or restrict practice.
- Not a government accreditation authority. LII's recognitions are independent and private.
Governance
LII's standards are approved by its Governance Board and managed by its Standards Committee, which also oversees assessment decisions.
