LII Certification Pathway
Six Certifications. One Standard.
Zero Coursework.
Every LII certification is a verified record of what you have actually delivered as a leader — assessed independently by qualified practitioners against a published standard. No attendance. No modules. Evidence from your existing role.
Practitioner → Emerging → Team → Operational → Strategic → Executive

LII uses a Foundational Baseline Assessment to confirm the right certification level for every candidate before any formal assessment begins.
Evidence-Led, Not Qualification-Led
LII does not require academic qualifications for entry at any level. Level determination is based on your current leadership role, the depth of your workplace evidence, and your professional readiness — assessed individually by a qualified LII assessor through the Foundational Baseline Assessment (FBA).
The Foundational Baseline Assessment
Before any portfolio is submitted, all candidates complete a structured readiness check with an LII assessor. The FBA confirms that your evidence base — its quality, specificity, and demonstrability — is sufficient to proceed to formal assessment at the confirmed level. No fee is charged until your level is confirmed.
Described Evidence Is Not Demonstrated Evidence
LII assessors make a critical distinction: described evidence tells the assessor what a leader did. Demonstrated evidence shows what changed in the organisation because of that leader. The LII standard requires demonstrated evidence. Evidence that describes activity without showing measurable organisational change does not meet the standard for a Pass grade.
No Compensation Between Components
Every assessment component (Capability Evidence 40%, Professional Practice Review 20%, Strategic Project 20%, Panel Assessment 20%) must independently meet its minimum threshold. A strong portfolio does not compensate for a weak panel interview. Every component is assessed on its own evidence.
Recognised Membership Status
Every LII certification is issued via Digital Passport. Each certification level carries recognised LII membership status — conferred as part of the certification decision, not applied for separately.
The certification designation (CLP, CEL, CTL, COL, CSL, CXL) may be used on professional materials, email signatures, and LinkedIn profiles for the duration of a valid certification. Certifications are valid for three years, with re-accreditation required before expiry to maintain the designation. Recognised LII membership status is conferred for the same period.
Not Sure Which Level Fits You?
